There are advantages to both, but I'd lean towards doing it young. You tend to have fewer commitments, you pick up languages more easily and you're more willing to put up with a bit of discomfort. That said, people who move later often have a clearer idea of what they want, and they may have the savings to make the move far less stressful.

Criterios de corrección

  • Grammatical Resource: a range of simple and complex structures (conditionals, modals, relative clauses, passives…) used with a good degree of control.
  • Lexical Resource: a range of appropriate vocabulary, including less common words and idiomatic expressions, to give and exchange views on familiar and unfamiliar topics.
  • Discourse Management: extended, coherent stretches of language with little hesitation, using a range of cohesive devices and discourse markers (what's more, having said that, as far as … is concerned).
  • Pronunciation: intelligible throughout, with appropriate intonation, sentence and word stress, and clearly articulated sounds.
  • Interactive Communication: initiating and responding appropriately, linking contributions to those of the partner, and moving the discussion towards an outcome.
  • Global Achievement: overall effectiveness in dealing with the task at C1 level.

Explicación

Part 4 questions are abstract and follow the Part 3 topic. Give a clear opinion, justify it, then qualify it ('Having said that…', 'It depends on…'). In the real exam you should also react to your partner's answer.

I suspect people will travel differently rather than less. Business trips have already declined because so many meetings now happen online. But the desire to see other places is very deep-rooted, so I imagine leisure travel will carry on – perhaps with more people choosing trains for shorter journeys if they become cheaper and faster.

Apart from family and friends, which is the obvious answer, I think it's the feeling of understanding everything effortlessly – the jokes, the unwritten rules, the way people queue or greet each other. When you live abroad you're constantly making small calculations, and that can be quite tiring even when you're perfectly happy there.
